Developing a teacher’s curriculum presents certain aspects to take into account. If you want to work as a teacher, apart from your academic training, schools will value skills such as treating people, attention to diversity and multiculturalism, the use of a non-sexist language and motivation to teach.
How to create a teacher curriculum?
A teacher’s resume should be written in clear and concise language, following a chronological order but putting some originality in each item to stand out from the others. The objective is for schools to see through your curriculum that you know how to communicate, that you are a person with initiative and with the ability to resolve conflicts.
1- Professional profile
This optional section will allow you to show in two or three lines your professional interests and best qualities to fill the position to which you aspire. As not many candidates include this section, if you do, your resume will stand out.
2- Personal profile

As with almost all jobs, experience is what is most valued when selecting a teacher. For this reason, this section is where you should try harder and describe your experience well.
Include the subjects you have taught, as well as the age of the students or courses in which you have taught. Accompany this description of the tasks of teaching, such as: preparation and correction of evaluation tests, preparation of complementary material, teaching online classes …
If you still do not have formal teaching experience, in this section you can include other experiences that you have acquired as a school support teacher, volunteering, etc.
Training is very important. This will determine the courses and subjects that you can teach. In addition, you already know that you will need to have a specific qualification in order to work as a teacher in regulated education. This training that enables you to work as a teacher or teacher must appear clearly on your curriculum in a prominent way so that there is no doubt that you meet the minimum requirements to teach.
Complementary training can be included in this section or in a different, special section, only for those shorter courses that you have taken. It is not necessary that you include absolutely all the courses of a few hours, mention only those that are relevant to the job.
If you have experience as a researcher and have published, include a specific section for it.
If you speak other languages, mention them on your resume, along with the level you have in each of them. This is important, especially if you aspire to a job in a bilingual school or if you are a language teacher.
6- Teacher professional skills
In this section you will be able to include all those skills that you have, whether they are technical, computer skills or soft skills.
Talking about general competencies of the teaching profession is a complicated matter, because depending on the modality (trainer, educator, university professor, high school …) some competences will be required more than others.

What should be included in the curriculum of an inexperienced elementary teacher
The resume of a teacher must meet the required training requirements but, if it is your first job as a teacher, it is advisable to highlight skills that make you stand out from others, qualities such as speaking several languages, computer skills and new technologies applied to Education, publications or field work carried out, and other aspects that support your ability to teach, such as the practices that you have surely carried out in a school or academy.
Do not forget, either, to mention the possible voluntary actions in which you have contributed, this aspect is usually highly valued, especially in centers of marginal neighborhoods.
In the case of physical education teachers, the degree of Physical Education Teaching or Physical Activity and Sports Sciences is required for Secondary Education, experience is valued, which does not have to be in a school, and also training or experience with students of social exclusion.
Cover letter from a teacher
The cover letter should be brief and highlight that you have the required academic training to apply for the vacancy offered. It must also show willingness and security to carry out this task with formulas such as:
“I therefore consider that I am prepared to fill this vacancy since it perfectly fits my professional profile.”
It should also contain a brief psychological description, such as:
“As you will see in my CV, I am an active, dynamic, responsible person and in a continuous process of training in the field of Education.”
